At St. Mark Lutheran Church, we depend on our youth to fuel the future of our church. To allow them to strengthen their relationship with the Lord and with each other, we offer a variety of different youth groups and ministries.
Lion's Pride
Lion’s PRIDE is for boys in grades 1-5 to enjoy participation, recreation, inspiration, devotion, and education (PRIDE) through monthly activities. Past activities include woodworking, fire building, ice fishing, leather work, and rocketry. They typically meet from 3:30-5:30 PM on the third Wednesday of the month. There is a one time activity fee of $20 collected from each child at the beginning of the school year. There is also a snacks and drinks schedule. If you are interested in helping, there is always a need for drivers, chaperones, helpers, and leaders.
Angel Wings
Angel Wings is a girls group for grades 1 – 6 that meets once a month after school from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. We open with devotion while the girls enjoy a little refreshment (snack & drink). Refreshments are provided by the girls based on a schedule that is put together at the beginning of the year. We then have a project or activity. Our goal is to enjoy Christian fellowship and help the girls learn different skills with activities like swimming, caroling, sliding, sewing, cooking, serving, crafts, and hygiene to name a few. Because we have such a large group of girls, we have divided into two groups: grades 1-3 and 4-6. Depending on the activity, we may meet separately. Registration is at the beginning of the school year and there is a fee of $15 per girl to help offset some of our expenses.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a spiritual, educational study for all 5-8th graders. The goal of this study is to prepare our young students doctrinally to know what the Bible teaches, spiritually to believe its truths, and personally to be ready to serve God and His kingdom. Following this course work (8th grade year), students are publically confirmed in the faith through a church ceremony and are ready for adult bible study and the Lord's Supper. For public school students, confirmation is on Wednesday nights from 4-5:30 pm. For day school students, confirmation is a part of the curriculum and takes place during the school day.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a one-week event that happens every summer. It is for children age 3 up through 5th grade. The youth gather at church typically from 9-11:30 each day of the week. Registration is required. Download the enrollment form here.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School classes are an important way for us to train up children in God's ways. It is expected that registered children are consistent in attendance and diligent in their home and memory work (this still is school). The Sunday School materials are from the Christ Light series. The classes we offer are for all children from infancy through 8th grade. This teaching enhances our confirmation curriculum and is seen as vital for the youth. Registration is required and there is a small cost for students who are three years and older. A handbook is available with information about room locations and teachers.
ACTS
All high school aged students are members of the ACTS group. ACTS stands for Active Christian Teens. The group meets two to three Sunday evenings per month (typically at 6:30) from September through May. Activities include Bible studies, lock ins, bowling, sledding, open gym days, and movie nights to name a few. Please check the posted schedule. It is updated throughout the year.
KICK
KICK stands for the Kids in Christ Klub. This group is for children from 6th grade through 8th grade. They gather on a monthly basis for social events.
