Fellowship Opportunities

Young Couples Group

This is a new group for recently married (with or not yet with children) to meet and get to know each other while engaging in some activity at the church or in the area. Gathering time and dates are based on availability of young couples. Contact the church secretary for more information.

Softball

Men 18 or older are invited to join our slow-pitch softball team which plays on Wednesday nights in Altoona. There is a league fee to join. This is not an official church team as there are some non-members who play. The season runs from May-August. Contact the church secretary for more information.

Lenten Suppers

Evening Lent services are at 6:30 p.m. Before the services at 5 p.m., dinner is served for members and families to enjoy in the Shaker Center (gymnasium). Varying church groups host the dinners. The meals are (usually) announced in the bulletin. There is a free will offering to help offset food costs.

Hunters Education

Members who are certified Hunter Education instructors have offered Hunter Education classes to allow members and other individuals within the community to achieve their hunter education certification. Classes are generally offered in the spring or summer. Learn more and register.

Dartball

Anyone is welcome to participate in the church dartball league which runs from mid-October through mid-March. The home games are usually played in the large meeting room. Contact the church secretary for a contact person. Game times and places are listed on the weekly ministry page of the Sunday bulletin.

Sports Camps

During the summer months, sports camps are conducted, usually organized by called staff but assisted by interested lay members. Dates and registration information appear in advance of the camps on the ministry page of the bulletin.

Open Gym

At various times, groups of members have organized open gym activities such as basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. Contact the church secretary to inquire about a contact person.

Other Opportunities

Depending upon the interest of members and the passion of individual leaders, other types of groups and activities are possible. Interest can be determined through a ministry page announcement in the bulletin and/or a sign-up sheet at the member center. In the past, there have been retreats, outdoor services, church picnics and variety shows.
